Some wedding days feel like they’re created just for the couple. Karissa and Blake’s September wedding at The Stables Event Center in Indiana was one of those days. It was a rare, crisp fall-like day after weeks of hot summer weather. Their celebration blended rustic elegance, heartfelt family moments, and a setting so beautiful it seemed like a gift.

Weather Like a Dream

After weeks of sweltering Indiana heat, September 6th gave us a perfect “false fall” with highs in the upper 60s, blue skies, and gentle breezes. It was exactly the kind of weather every couple hopes for when planning an outdoor ceremony.

Nestled into the grove of trees at The Stables Event Center, Karissa and Blake exchanged vows surrounded by nature and their loved ones.

This was my second wedding at The Stables this year, and once again Jackie (the owner) went above and beyond. She is professional, kind, and deeply invested in making wedding days seamless and beautiful.

A Rustic, Greenery-Filled Celebration

Karissa envisioned a simple, rustic wedding filled with greenery. Inspired by countless Pinterest boards and ideas from her future mother in law, her vision came to life beautifully.

The outdoor ceremony under the trees flowed into a warm, welcoming reception inside the barn.

Blake’s mom took the lead on decorating the reception space, and it was absolutely stunning. It was a reflection of her care and creativity.

Honoring Her Dad

For Karissa, the day carried more than the usual wedding emotions. Her father passed away when she was a child, and she found a moving way to honor him.

At the ceremony, she placed a photo of her dad, along with flowers and his hat, at the front row beside her mom’s seat — a visible reminder of his presence in spirit.

Her stepdad Doug, with whom she shares a close relationship, walked her down the aisle.

Later during the reception, Karissa danced with Doug for the traditional father daughter dance, and then shared a special grandfather granddaughter dance with her grandpa who played a huge role in raising her after her father passed.

Watching those moments unfold was deeply moving.

Blake and His Family

Blake’s family is just as sweet. They are warm, welcoming, and very close knit. His Grandpa Allen offered a heartfelt prayer before dinner, setting a tone of gratitude and blessing over the reception.

Blake’s mom poured her heart into the reception décor, and it showed in every thoughtful detail. Even their engagement photos were taken at Blake’s other grandparents’ home which was a meaningful nod to the deep family ties that shaped him.

Family is clearly at the center of Blake’s life, and seeing both families come together on this day was truly special.

Karissa and Blake’s Love Story

Karissa and Blake first met at Purdue University in a calculus class, sitting side by side. After a few plot twists, including Blake dropping that class and both switching majors, they reconnected in December 2020. A few dates later, they officially began dating in January 2021 and have been inseparable ever since.

Blake says he knew Karissa was “the one” on the way to a basketball game, when they were driving together listening to their favorite music and locked eyes at just the right moment.

Karissa says Blake is one of the most genuine, kind people she has ever met. He makes her laugh even with terrible jokes, and she feels calmer and more herself when he is around.

Blake loves Karissa’s passion for animals, her honesty, and the way she has helped him grow into a more confident person.

Celebration with Family and Friends

Karissa and Blake planned their wedding with family and friends at the center.

Many guests traveled from out of state, and their vendor team helped create a joyful, relaxed atmosphere.

Their dessert table was a highlight with desserts made by a local bakery and one of Blake’s cousins. And they could not wait to dance with their guests thanks to their DJ from Quest Entertainment.

Karissa’s dress from Nancy’s Bridal Boutique was exactly the beautiful dress she had always envisioned. This boutique is known for helping brides find the perfect gown with exceptional service and a personalized experience.

A Perfect Start to Forever

Karissa and Blake’s wedding was not just beautiful, it was heartfelt.

From honoring her dad to celebrating with both of their families, their day was a testament to the power of love, gratitude, and family.

After celebrating at The Stables Event Center, they are off to Sandals Grand Antigua for their honeymoon, the perfect way to begin this next chapter.
