Brook and Jack’s Summer Wedding at Gathering Acres Lafayette, Indiana
A Rustic Dusty Blue Celebration in Lafayette Indiana
Some wedding days feel like they were wrapped in joy before they even began and that is exactly what it was like with Brook and Jack. On a hot Indiana summer day, these two gathered with their friends and family at Gathering Acres in Lafayette for a celebration full of laughter, emotion, and deep genuine love.
Thankfully, this beautiful venue offers the best of both worlds with both indoor and outdoor ceremony options. With temperatures soaring, the comfort of air conditioning was a gift. The peaceful countryside setting and the detailed and thoughtful coordination by Lisa and Verlyn made the whole day flow with ease.
A Love Rooted in Intentionality
Brook and Jack’s story began with a swipe right on Hinge, but it quickly turned into something real. Their first date was at Walt’s Pub in West Lafayette, which also became the perfect spot for their engagement photos.
After a year of dating, they moved to South Carolina and shared their first apartment. It was a season of growth and dreaming. Eventually, they moved back to Indiana to be closer to family and to plant roots for the future they are building together.
Their love is the kind you can feel just by watching them interact. Gentle, respectful, steady, and real. The way Brook’s face softens when she looks at Jack, the way Jack teared up during their private vows are just examples of the way their love for one another glowed all day.
Emotional Moments and a Whole Lot of Fun
From the start of the day, one thing was clear: their people love them deeply. Brook and Jack’s bridal party was incredible. Every bridesmaid and groomsman brought kindness, joy, and so much laughter. They were helpful and completely invested in making sure the day was unforgettable. And when it was time to hit the dance floor, they brought the energy.
One of the most emotional moments came during Brook and Jack’s private vows before the ceremony. They chose a quiet first touch instead of a first look, and the tears were flowing. Jack especially was overcome with emotion in the best way. It was a sacred moment tucked into the middle of all the excitement.
Their ceremony was rich with meaning, including a moment when they braided a unity cord — a beautiful representation of Ecclesiastes 4:12: a cord of three strands is not quickly broken. It was a declaration that their marriage is rooted not only in love, but in faith.
Later that evening, the room grew quiet again during the toasts, not because someone gave a speech, but because the maid of honor, Haylee, Brook’s sister, chose instead to lead a prayer. She called the entire bridal party to surround the couple, laying hands on them as she prayed a heartfelt and powerful blessing. Guests were invited to extend their hands toward the couple and join in. That moment felt holy. For me, it was a reminder of why I love faith-filled weddings so deeply.
Their first dance was a moment to remember and wowed the crowd as they danced on a cloud with dry ice swirling around them. It was romantic, dramatic, and completely unforgettable.
The Details That Told Their Story
Brook and Jack chose a dusty blue palette with rustic touches. It was soft and romantic, timeless but comfortable. Every detail was intentional and thoughtful. Brook’s baby blue cowboy boots, embroidered with flowers, were the perfect country girl touch to her otherwise glamorous dress and veil.
They are both close with their families, and it was beautiful to see the way their parents, John and Kim Lahrman and Greg and Jeanne Hulst, celebrated right alongside them. From helping with planning to being present in every way, their support was deeply felt.

Off to the Mountains
After sunset pictures and the final dance, the music wound down, and Brook and Jack were off to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, to begin their honeymoon in the Smoky Mountains. A peaceful and scenic beginning to this brand new chapter.
